IPAC Urges Government to Tackle Insecurity, Corruption, and Economic Challenges in 2025

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed gratitude for Nigeria’s survival through the socio-economic hardships of 2024, attributing it to the grace of God, and urged the government to prioritize addressing critical national issues in 2025.

In a statement released by Yusuf Dantalle, the National Chairman of IPAC, the Council called on the government to focus on fighting insecurity, corruption, and economic challenges. It also emphasized the need for ensuring food security and providing essential social amenities to improve the lives of Nigerians.

While recognizing the monumental challenges ahead, IPAC appealed to Nigerians to unite and hold their leaders accountable. The Council urged citizens to remain prayerful, patriotic, and proactive, stressing that “the grace of God” was the reason Nigerians survived the difficult socio-economic conditions of the past year.

Reflecting on 2024’s challenges, IPAC acknowledged that the economic difficulties faced by the country were unprecedented. However, the Council expressed hope for the future, thanking God for His protection and mercy, and reaffirmed its commitment to helping build a more stable, prosperous, and equitable nation in 2025.

“Nigerians are resilient, resourceful, and enterprising people who have made enormous sacrifices since Independence in 1960 in the arduous task of building a better nation,” the statement read. “Their abiding faith in the fatherland should not be taken for granted by elected public officers, who must remember that sovereignty resides in the people.”

Looking forward to 2025, IPAC highlighted the opportunity for a fresh start to appraise the country’s successes and failures from 2024. The Council called on Nigerians to rededicate themselves to building a strong democracy and making Nigeria great again.

The Council also emphasized that nation-building is a collective responsibility, urging citizens to stay vigilant and proactive on issues affecting them. It stressed that the price for freedom and prosperity is “eternal vigilance.”

As the umbrella body for all registered political parties in Nigeria, IPAC committed to leading efforts to ensure good governance and the well-being of the people. It promised to continue its Peer Review Mechanism, aimed at evaluating the achievements of governors, legislators, and monitoring progress on financial autonomy for Local Governments.

IPAC also announced that it is taking steps to ensure only candidates with credible qualifications contest elections, working to prevent the disqualification of candidates who won elections with fraudulent credentials.

The Council concluded by calling on all stakeholders to rebuild trust in the democratic process, focusing on fighting corruption, ensuring political stability, credible elections, economic growth, food security, and social cohesion. It also stressed the importance of improving quality education, healthcare, power supply, and security in the country.
